  Jim Ryan is a best selling author with Mel Bay Publications and Hal Leonard Corporation.  He has published five drum instruction books and more than 30 Snare Drum solos sold worldwide.  Over the past 35 years, he has toured and recorded with numerous bands throughout the U.S.   He was voted best drummer in St. Louis for 4 consecutive years in Spotlight Magazine's Readers Poll.  Jim is the featured drummer on 5 CD's with Morgantown and Buffalo Bob and the Bedroom Blues Band that were also voted "Best Blues Band" and "Best Original Music Band" in St Louis.  He is currently teaching, recording and performing in the Midwest with several groups.

Educating Drummers For 35 Years

My program provides Snare Drum and Drum Set lessons to drummers of all ages and levels in the St. Louis area. Drum lessons can be in your home or my studio. Each drum lesson is tailored to suit the needs of the student and can be scheduled in 30, 45, and 60 minute sessions.

Areas of study include reading, technique, stick control, dexterity, and playing by ear. Snare drum lessons focus on rudiments, contest snare solos, playing with an orchestra and drum corps techniques. Drumset lessons focus on popular styles such as Rock, Christian, Jazz, Fusion, Latin, Blues and Country. Students are encouraged to learn songs of their choice and receive awards for the successful completion of each drum instruction book.

With regular practice, students can be playing some of their favorite songs within 3 to 6 months of beginning drum instruction. I have hundreds of note by note drum transriptions of music from the 60's to current releases. New songs are added weekly.
